Why I Think we Should Stop the Fight Against Bullying

Posted on October 13, 2012 at 1:05 PM Comments comments (0)

In light of recent news events both provincially and nationally I could not let this go by without commenting.....

News stories, Facebook pages, emails....all about bullying and its devastating effects. But will it matter? Does it make a difference?

How about too little too late, in my humble opinion! Lives are lost, self esteem void, dreams shattered......all that is l...

Me - With a Highly Sensitive Child - Part Two

Posted on October 4, 2012 at 2:30 PM Comments comments (1)

When I become a mother for the first time I was filled with an extreme sense of fulfilment but also terror. I think I realized, on some subconscious level, that emotionally I wasn't going to be able to keep up my charade. But I tried, and tried and tried. Some days succeeding and some not so much.

I had two beautiful, healthy children 22 months apart. And I knew from the moment I gave birth to Rhiana that I was meant to be a...

Mother's Day..... Meet My Mom

So Mother's Day is Sunday and once again I am nowhere near my own Mother.

In fact, I am not sure if I can remember the last time I was with her on this special sunday. I do recall her visiting myself and Rhiana, who was one at the time, in that was back in 2006 when I was pregnant wth Colton. She had gotten a ride as far as Terra Nova with my sister and Rhiana an...

Tummy Tuck....The truth?

Posted on January 12, 2012 at 3:20 PM Comments comments (2)

I think that asking if I had "work done" was probably the strangest, most backwards, yet flattering comment that I received on any of my pictures from the day of the competition.

But I decided to post this picture to show you a little something that you can not always see in the pics on the internet or in magazines....but more often than not, it is there.

I was blessed to have had two incredibly healthy pregnancies and babies and although I did survive with...

"Survived the Holidays" Now Back to Real Life Please

Posted on December 28, 2011 at 10:25 AM Comments comments (0)

Well thank goodness that the worst is over!

LOL! Ok, that is a little dramatic, but this year that is how I honestly felt about the holidays in a way. I really felt emotional this year on a whole variety of levels. The usual family issues that arise every year is a given, but this year I had a strong feeling of a sort of anger about the whole commercialism of the season. Christmas started back in October just prior to the arrival of halloween and c...

Christmas is for the Kids

Posted on December 23, 2011 at 1:40 PM Comments comments (0)

What would the holidays be without a misty-eyed mommy moment?

The sheer excitement in the eyes of my children this past week has brought out a little of the child in me I think. I won't lie, I just wasn't feeling the spirit, until a few days ago, when we got a beautiful sprinkle of snow and then BAM!! It hit me - all of the kids enthusiasm started to rub off o...

Life Continues to Get Crazier!

Oh the holiday season has begun!!

Since the show, I have been working on getting back into my routine and so far it hasn't been too bad but add in the ever increasing number of Christmas programs and parties and things start to get a little hairy.

Workouts: I have changed up my routine slightly and am doing a 2 days on one day off lifting routine with some metabolic work (about 20 mins) on my off days, with one day (normally sundays) completely off.. This...

The sun has set....

Posted on September 9, 2011 at 7:50 AM Comments comments (2)

The sun has gone down on yet another summer, as short as it was. It does seem that the older I get, the faster it goes. This birthday, last weekend, brought with it a whole gammet of emotions. I was blessed to spend the weekend visiting with a friend and celebrating her wedding. It was probably the nicest wedding I have ever attended and had the honor of being a part of. I ate some amazing food (too much of it) and met some even more amazing people! We ...

I think that every Mom I know feels like this, whether she works outside the home or not, it is always a struggle to find balance. But I digress....

Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to attend a function with the Career Development Class at the local high school. I guidance counsellor, who is one of my bootcampers, kindly asked me to come along to the luncheon which had a "speed dating" format where the students rotated...

SAHM's, Sweats and Ponytail Syndrome

Posted on July 7, 2011 at 8:30 PM Comments comments (0)

I have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a stay at home mom (SAHM) and be with my children for the first few years of their lives. It is an honour to get to spend my days with them and teach and shape and mould them into the little people that they are becoming, but....there is a darker side to staying at home that many moms don't like to talk about.

Come on, you all know what I am talking about....the sweats, the ponytails and bal...
